Korean Air's second cargo terminal officially opened

<p>(CAPA) Korean Air officially opened its new cargo terminal at Incheon International Airport on 10-Sep-07. Located at the East end of Cargo Terminal A, the new cargo terminal had been under construction since May-05. </p> <p>The new 6-level, 37,400 sqm terminal is capable of handling 260,000 tons of cargo p/a, boosting Korean Air&#8217;s yearly cargo handling capacity up to 1.61 million tons from the current 1.35 million tons.</p> <p> The new cargo terminal is equipped with the best cargo handling equipment available, including X-ray devices, metal detectors, bomb sensors, surveillance TVs, and radio frequency type gates for safer cargo transportation.</p> <p> The goal of the new cargo terminal construction project is to meet the needs of increasing air-cargo demand, and to fulfil the nation&#8217;s vision of being the international logistics hub of North-east Asia.</p> <p> Korean Air is now operating freighters to 47 cities in 26 nations, with 140 weekly services, processing 1.23 million tons of outbound, inbound, and transit cargo at the Incheon cargo terminal.</p>
