HSBC expands airport branding to LAX

Tags :North America

HSBC Bank USA (HSBC), part of one of the world's largest financial services companies, today announced Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as the latest addition to the company's global airport branding strategy. As part of the five year agreement, the HSBC brand now features prominently across the interior and exterior of 17 jet bridges at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX, the seventh busiest airport in the world, with more than 59 million travellers last year.

The interior of the jet bridges displays HSBC's popular "Values" campaign - a global advertising campaign which illustrates that only by understanding peoples values, can we better meet their needs. The HSBC Group's international network comprises around 8,500 offices in 86 countries and territories in Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.

Kevin Martin, SEVP of Personal Financial Services and Head of Marketing, HSBC Bank USA, N.A., said, "As a true gateway to Asia/Pacific, LAX represents a particularly compelling opportunity to reach HSBC customers. As 'The world's local bank,' we seek to serve our customers wherever they are, both domestically and abroad."

The HSBC Group first established a presence in California in 1866. HSBC Bank USA's network in California includes 33 retail branches, including 20 in the Los Angeles/Orange County area.

Jet bridge advertising is a concept pioneered by the HSBC Group and launched at London's Heathrow Airport in 2001. Since that time it has expanded to 50 airports in 23 countries around the world. HSBC branding can now be seen at airports in such diverse locations as: Sydney, Beijing, Shanghai, New York, London, Athens and Tokyo.

In the United States and Canada, HSBC already has a strong presence at John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia International Airport in New York, Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport and Miami International Airport. HSBC Bank USA and HSBC Bank Canada's airport branding campaign reaches approximately 200 million North American fliers annually.

Outdoor advertising company JCDecaux North America works with HSBC on this unique jet bridge effort and owns the media assets for LAX Airport and others in the U.S.
