Melbourne Airport today warmly welcomes the inaugural Melbourne - Brisbane services from Tiger Airways. The services will run up to three times daily between the two cities.

Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Woodruff was incredibly positive about the beginning of services on the new route; "This commencement of Tiger services from their home base in Melbourne to Brisbane is great news for passengers and further increases accessibility on an essential link between two key eastern Australian cities. The benefits for passengers, whether travelling for business, leisure or visiting friends and relatives cannot be overstated" he said.

"We are also thrilled to announce that in addition to the Brisbane services, from June 18 Tiger will be recommencing services on the Melbourne - Darwin route six times a week, just in time for the peak travel season. By opening up the market on this route Tiger will continue to cater for passengers with very affordable fares throughout the country.

"Services to Brisbane bring Tiger's destinations when flying out of Melbourne to 13 - and come June, with the addition of Darwin services, 14, showing the strength not only of the Melbourne market but the Victorian economy as a whole."

This follows Tiger commencing services on the Melbourne - Sydney route, introducing additional aircraft to their fleet and increasing services to other destinations throughout Australia such as the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Hobart and Adelaide. "These new and reintroduced services are testament to the great partnership between Melbourne Airport and Tiger Airways" he added.
