Frontier Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: RJET), today launched new nonstop service from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) to Columbus, Ohio (CMH).

This service is part of a significant period of growth for the Denver-based carrier, which is growing by 7 percent in seat miles this year, making it the fastest-growing major airline in the United States.

“Kansas City is a fantastic market for Frontier and we are so pleased to launch this new nonstop service to Columbus,” said Daniel Shurz, vice president of strategy and planning. “With the integration of Frontier and Midwest Airlines into one carrier, operating under the Frontier Airlines name, we now offer our Kansas City customers more destinations, affordable fares, and the same great customer service they’ve come to know from both Midwest and Frontier. Kansas City is now Frontier’s third-largest operating hub and we’re very excited about the opportunities this community provides us.”

"The long legacies of Frontier and Midwest in Kansas City continue with one airline partner – Frontier," said Director of Aviation Mark VanLoh. "We welcome this renewed partnership, and we are especially enthused to launch new service to Columbus and New Orleans."

The launch of service to Columbus is part of a 17-market expansion taking place this spring and summer, which will also include the launch of service between Kansas City and New Orleans on May 20. Additionally, Frontier announced in March that it would be extending its nonstop service between Kansas City and Cancún, Mexico through Aug. 28. The new routes increase to 12 the number of destinations offered by Frontier from Kansas City.

On April 13, Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. announced that Frontier Airlines would be the face of its branded operation, combining Frontier and Midwest Airlines into one carrier. Although all flights can now be purchased at FrontierAirlines.com, Frontier and Midwest will continue to integrate technology over the next six to nine months and during this time period customers are reminded to continue checking in with the operating airline for their flight.
