(CAPA) Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) posted its August sales results showing a healthy year-on-year growth for August 2007 of over 39%.

Spearheading ADDF’s progress were the following retail categories: Electronics which posted a 50.56% increase, with Gold and Beauty & Fragrance items realizing 46.57% and 43.14% growth, respectively.

Niveen Ibrahim, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Duty Free, stated, “the increase in turnover for August has been excellent and we can attribute much of the success to the ‘Win Your Dreams’ promotion which started in July and will continue to run right through Ramadan”.

The ‘Win Your Dreams’ promotion is a three-tiered spend and win promotion with prizes including a DAMAC luxury apartment on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, a BMW Z4 and AED100,000 in cash.

Promotions aside, passengers through Abu Dhabi continued to be the region’s top spenders in the travel retail environment, with a sustained high-level average of USD51.00 per customer in August 2007.

Mr. Ibrahim additionally stated, “sustained and significant rises in turnover can also be attributed to the increase in flights and destinations created – almost monthly – by Etihad. Coupled to the success of the ‘Win Your Dreams’, we expect more solid returns to be evident when closing Q3”.
